Instructional Resources

Curriculum

The term "curriculum" refers to the lessons and academic content taught in a school or in a specific course or program. Sometimes the term curriculum is used incorrectly but interchangeably with resources or standards. Through the curriculum is how we achieve the Colorado Academic Standards. Resources are the products used within lessons. More than one resource may be used within a lesson. A teacher might start with a YouTube Video to engage students, then a program like CKLA to teach a specific skill or content, and lastly end with a teacher developed exit ticket to assess the learning from the lesson.

At IVES, the curriculum will be derived from several resources.

Instructional Resources

IVES will use several commercially developed instructional resources to support our curriculum, including but not limited to:

  • Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA)
  • iready Math
  • Lexia Core 5
  • ST Math

For arts integration there is no commercially developed "program". How do you put creativity in a box?! Staff will use resources developed by the Kennedy Center, Colorado Department of Education, Denver Art Museum, and other organizations with the resources above to create interdisciplinary units.
